Job Memo
Following graduation, I will be working with a power tools and floor care company called TTi. TTi is responsible for producing industry-leading brands such as Milwaukee, Ryobi, Hoover, and Dirt Devil. These brands are commonly sold at Home Depots as well as e-commerce sites. I will be working directly out of a Home Depot location selling direct to the customer and keeping Home Depot informed on new promotions.

I am excited to take on the challenge of working with a large company. My previous work has involved mainly working with small companies and non-profits where the company is very intimate. While I am nervous to work with such a different company, I also am willing to embrace the role of working with a bigger company in a new environment. I’m already enjoying learning about our products and how these products allow users to enhance their work experience. For example, I am helping my grandpa in his woodshop to build countertops, cutting boards, and workbenches using primarily Milwaukee products. This will allow me to better understand the brands I will be representing, and the skills needed to work with them.

I am also passionate about working with my hands and creating products from materials and tools. As I become more familiar with this field, I’m also looking forward to further developing my aptitude with tools. I hope to inform the customers on our products while also being able to learn from them.

There are three main components that I am proud to develop in my internship:
·       Branding
·       Sales
·       Personal Development

Branding
As an intern, I will have to brand our products and establish an identity with our name and excellence.
·       Promoting product benefits
·       Representing the TTi brand well
·       Developing strong relationships
Over the Summer of 2019, I will be working as a sales intern in South Orange County. I will be responsible for selling our products to customers in store as well as keeping Home Depot up to date on our promotions and new products. This experience will allow me to fit into the entry level position of Field Marketing Associate. The Field Marketing Associate position is responsible for similar responsibilities as the internship position, but they oversee five stores in their area. I am nervous for learning new positions in the company, but TTi has a strong training program. The company culture is also focused on change and assisting new members to fit into their new roles.

Sales
As an intern, I will be responsible for communicating the benefits of our products to the on-site customers.
·       Product Demonstrations
·       In-person selling to customers
·       Following up with sales
I have already begun training for this my internship. I am working to learn about our brands and how each brand is catered to a different customer base. For example, our Milwaukee brand is a high-grade and high-price point power tool that will serve many professionals well for years but may not be the right fit for the occasional small fix around the house. For this issue, I would recommend to our customer our Ryobi brand which is a more affordable, yet reliable, power tool that is perfect for maintenance to the weekend DIY project. I am excited to continue my training and learn more about how to assist customers in the future.

Personal Development
As an intern, TTi is committed to developing passionate leaders who strive to make the company better.
·       Inside promotions
·       Competitive benefits
·       Strong employee training
My goal for five to ten years from now is to be in the Regional Manager position. The regional Manager role holds many responsibilities including overseeing a large area of stores, running a regional sales, marketing, and hiring departments. I believe that I would be a good fit for this position because I have developed my leadership skills through USC’s many programs, and I will have near a decade of experience with TTi. I can see myself staying with TTi for my entire career. They have a strong company culture and competitive benefits that will allow for me to support myself and my family.

  2. I'm really interested in sales department of TTi. When you mentioned customers, who are TTi's customers? Are they individuals or are they large retailers?

  5. I find it so cool that you are able to partake in Branding. We spent a great deal of time discussing this in my marketing class where I learned how big of a responsibility this is. You are responsible to the image of the company which means you could be doing them a great favor or disservice. But I'm sure that you're going to excel and do amazing things. Good luck :)
