The World We Can Hack Together
- Name and mission of organization
- Equal Internet Opportunities (EIO)
- Why you are passionate about the work that your organization will do?
- I am passionate about using the internet in order to better every aspect of my life. It pains me to see all of the Internet's positive impacts in my life, yet thirteen countries still restrict their people's access. I want to help make sure that these people have the opportunities to succeed in life. Furthermore, I am passionate about teaching people. I will look forward to teaching
- What is unique about what your organization intends to do?
- My organization is unique in that we teach our students both python and C, we give fundamentals of ethics in hacking, and we have a real-life implementation project.
- Why should Anima Mundi Development Partners support your organization?
- AMDP should invest in my project for three reasons: we have low costs, we have multiple measures for success, and we are pioneering the way programming is taught.
- Low Costs:The costs for this idea run very low. I expect that the initial costs will amount to a few thousand dollars, but after we program and set up the website, we will have low costs. Our monthly costs will only be for server maintenance and customer support. The benefits of operating online is low maintenance, so we can focus more of our efforts on bettering the product.
- Success:The business will have two aspects to measure students success. The long-term measure deepens on the students ability to cause the people who control the internet in the countries to give universal access. We cannot expect every student to be successful in this measurable, so will provide a survey for individuals at the end of the class. The survey will gather the amount that students learned in the class and if they found it beneficial. The survey will be separate from the final project so we could gather a non-biased quantitative result.
- Teaching Programming: For the first two weeks we will be teaching the students python along with an introduction to the ethics of programming. Following this introduction, we will move the curriculum to python's brother language -- C#. C# is a more powerful language that allows for students to spring off from their fundamentals to deepen their knowledge of computer programming.
